A.K. Foluke, MD is a Board Certified psychiatrist with over 25years of experience in both military and civilian psychiatry and over 15 years Post-Fellowship D&A Treatment experience.
Dr. Foluke completed undergraduate and medical school studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and Residency at University of Chicago and Hahnemann University Hospital (Philadelphia). He later completed a D&A Fellowship at the University of Pa. in Philadelphia.
Dr. Foluke is a retired reservist Navy Captain. He spent his final active duty years serving at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia. His final years were spent helping military personnel with combat-related illness. He continues to provide services for local active duty military personnel utilizing specialized training in Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy when needed.
As a civilian psychiatrist, Dr. Foluke has worked in multiple treatment settings over the years. He utilizes both his medical training and his therapeutic training to assist patients. He emphasizes dynamic systems and biological theories to understand problems. He employs psychotherapy and/or combined psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy to assist patients. His special interests include treatment of Depressions, Anxieties, Combat Illness, Couples Issues, and late Adolescent Issues.
